The app offers seven essential modules: depression, anxiety & panic attacks, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, mood monitoring, eating disorder, and professional help resources.
The Depression module features the "What Can Help Me" function, providing suggestions such as exercise, meditation, listening to music, watching videos, drawing, and guided relaxation. It also includes an Activity Planner to help users create task lists and a "What Made Me Happy" section to focus on positive aspects of the day.
The Anxiety & Panic Attacks module aims to assist users in coping with intense anxiety and panic attacks. It offers two types of breathing exercises – deep breathing focusing on inhaling and exhaling alternately and the "box breathing" technique involving full inhale, breath hold, full exhale, and another breath hold. Additionally, it includes a mathematical counting feature to shift attention away from anxious thoughts and physical reactions during panic attacks.
In the Self-Harm module, users are presented with distraction techniques such as breathing exercises and alternative activities instead of self-harm actions. These include using ice cubes or a red marker on the skin, writing down emotions before destroying the paper, engaging in physical activity, or turning to painting or guided relaxation.
The Suicidal Thoughts module offers reasons and activities that could deter such thoughts or emphasize the value of life. Users can create Emergency Plans within the app to outline safe actions in crisis situations. This section also provides insights into people who care about the individual and could be affected by their actions.
Users can compile their own list of reasons to live in the "Reasons to Stay Alive" section. Default entries serve as examples for users while emphasizing breathing exercises present throughout this module.
The final module provides access to Professional Help Resources, including phone numbers for emergency services and crisis centers. Links to chat rooms are also available for individuals who prefer typing over speaking when seeking assistance.
The app is open-source with its source codes available here.
